Well, it continues to be busy times for us Boys and Girls here at SPS Enterprises. So much has been happening since we last spoke…
Firstly, if you haven’t yet, take a listen to our new single, Green City! Now, on with it:
Back in September, we officially parted ways with the ever-graceful Paul Roots – he will forever live in our hearts and for a while live in the house in front of our practice space (Pilsen’s famous Green Dragon!) But as many of you now know first hand, we have since welcomed our wild n’ free new drummer friend Mr. Jamie Dull into the SPS fold, and he has been killing it! We’ve played 2 club shows and 1 house party, and I think the Cat is out of the proverbial bag that he is melting faces on a regular basis. Speaking of those shows…
We had a grand time officially welcoming Jamie as he joined us on stage for the first time back in November @ The Hideout. Who can forget that night? There was a Wild Jesus loose and he was feeding everyone espresso, which, I can’t lie, really made for an entertaining crowd. Someone give those Jesus guys a Nobel Prize! NYE 2012 was a blast as well, as we partied into the New Year @ The Lunt House and took a ride w/ Grace Kulp and his giant psychedelic van. Thanks eternal to our gracious hosts, David and Karen! And of course, most recently we were joined by the beautiful Jess Hernandez and the Deltas, who took a beeline from the Motor City to join us at Subterranean for a night of awesomeness and free birthday drinks for Evan. (by the way, did you know about how he got here?)
Us humans are an impatient bunch [I've heard the Reptilian Shapeshifters are much better in this regard], but we are trying our best to avoid simultaneous and spontaneous combustions as we await the release of our debut LP Ripe Fruit and all of the chewy gooey content that is set to come with it. To tide us all over, The kind folks over at RCRD LBL recently premiered the first single from the album, the aforementioned “Green City”. But there is so much more we can’t wait to bring you: videos, posters, propaganda; and of course, more shows for you out of town folks!
:: Weds, Feb 22nd: The Black Sparrow, Lafayette, IN :: Thurs, Feb 23rd: The Verve, Terre Haute, IN :: Friday and Saturday Feb 24th / 25th: Midwest dates TBA very soon ::
Hope to see some new and familiar faces alike as we cart ourselves around in our brand-new 15-passenger van….
